Algona wins Wildcat Relays

Edging Webster City in the final event, the Algona Bulldog boys’ track team also nipped the Lynx in the team race to win the Wildcat Relays ran at Humboldt on Thursday, April 5.
The red-and-black totaled 117 points to top the field, with Webster City taking second with 115. Manson Northwest Webster was third with 107 followed by Humboldt with 68. Pocahontas was fifth with 61, Emmetsburg was sixth with 54 and Eagle Grove rounded out the seven team field with 35.
The Bulldogs won three events and freshman Bo Hjelle was involved in all three races. Bo won the 1,600-meter run in 4:46.97; cruised to the tape first in the 800-meter run in 2:04.05 and teamed up with Christian Parker, Adam Poeppe and Satchel Cederwall to win the 4 x 800-meter relay in 8:34.09.
